A footage of Ace Frehley from the July 19th show at Clearfield, Pennsylvania was shown during a recent episode of the Waste Some Time With Jason Green “My Life On The Road” series.
Frehley, VIXEN and Stephen Pearcy had performed at the show. This would be one of Ace’s last appearances, as he would pass away tragically less than three months later.
Ace Frehley walks off stage
At this show, Ace was forced to stop the show early due to what he said was heat exhaustion, and had to be escorted off the stage.
KISS frontman Gene Simmons previously said that a series of “bad decisions” by Ace Frehley contributed to his passing.
Simmons condemned the substance abuse that he suggested contributed to Frehley’s fatal fall down the stairs, leading to a brain bleed that took his life on October 16th at age 74.
Speaking to New York Post, Simmons had said, “He refused [advice] from people that cared about him, including yours truly, to try to change his lifestyle. In and out of bad decisions. Falling down the stairs, I’m not a doctor, doesn’t kill you. There may have been other issues, and it breaks my heart.”
The Morris County medical examiner’s report lists the cause of death as a blunt trauma injury of the head due to a fall. It said a separate toxicology report on Frehley’s blood would be issued.
Simmons added, “The saddest thing, you reap what you shall sow unfortunately.”
He also spoke about attending Frehley’s private funeral service on October 22nd. He said: “It breaks my heart. Peter Criss, our founding drummer, Paul, and myself went to the funeral, open casket.
“It was just heartbreaking. Saddest of all perhaps is that Ace just couldn’t stay alive long enough to sit there proudly at the Kennedy Center and listen to, I can’t even tell you who’s going to come out … really impressive people, just to say how much Kiss meant to them. What can you say, sad.”
