Aerosmith’s new project, billed as EP ‘One More Time,’ in collaboration with Yungblud, is raising eyebrows among fans, as it features only two members of the legendary rock band. Eddie Trunk has shared some details on the new project.
Aerosmith reunion EP missing members?
While the promotional materials emphasize Aerosmith, the lineup consists solely of frontman Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry, with the rest of the original group absent.
Founding guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton, and drummer Joey Kramer are not involved. Whitford reportedly had little knowledge of the project when asked about it, Hamilton is not participating, and Kramer has already been absent from Aerosmith’s live performances in recent years.
Trunk said, as transcribed by Alternative Nation, “And here’s the other really important interesting thing about this that nobody’s talking about. This entire thing is being billed as Aerosmith and Yungblud. Well, more accurately, it’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith and Yungblud. Because Brad Whiteford is not on it. Brad Whitford, who is an original member of Aerosmith and a very important member, has nothing to do with it. He barely knew about it when I talked to him about it. Same with Tom Hamilton, who of course is the bass player in Aerosmith. And Joey Kramer, who of course, has been the drummer in Aerosmith, as you know, hasn’t been playing with him lately.”
Despite the limited lineup, the use of the Aerosmith name is expected to drive significant interest, capitalizing on Tyler and Perry’s star power. Fans, however, may question whether the project truly represents Aerosmith without the full band.
Eddie Trunk concluded, “So Joey, Tom and Brad are not part of this thing. But of course, they’re using the Aerosmith name because it’s Steven and Joe and that is going to drive interest.”
