Aerosmith Discussing Reunion After Retirement

In August 2024, Aerosmith announced their immediate retirement from touring due to a persistent vocal injury sustained by frontman Steven Tyler nearly one year prior. Despite his best efforts, Tyler was never able to make a full recovery after fracturing his larynx during that September 2023 show.

Since then, Tyler has performed a handful of times at charity events – including at Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s farewell show “Back to the Beginning” where he led a supergroup consisting of Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Travis Barker (Blink-182), Andrew Watt, Rudy Sarzo, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Nuno Bettencourt.

Now, guitarist Joe Perry is addressing the possibility at Aerosmith performing one last concert with Tyler.

“We’re actually talking quite a bit,” Perry said during a recent interview with WZLX’s Kenny Young. “I know our touring days are over, but… I don’t know… We’re all flesh and blood… I don’t know, man. I would say, at some point … we will all be together on the same stage… If I was a betting man, which I am, I would say, at some point something’s gonna happen. But we’ll see.”

This past June, Perry echoed similar comments during an appearance on Sirius XM’s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk,” saying that he is “always hoping” that Aerosmith will perform together again. “But going on the road, it’s a big deal pulling that together,” Perry clarified. “There’s so much planning, and what it takes out of you physically, it’s a lot more than people realize.

“It’s one thing when you’re doing it when you’re 25 or 30, but it’s another when you’re starting to get up there like us. It’s a really physical thing, going out on stage…”

“But we’re talking about it. I mean… we’re all alive and well. So, we’ll just have to see. I know there’s gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I’m not looking forward to putting the setlist together for that one. But I don’t know, man. We’ll just have to see. I’ve always played like every show’s the last one. I hate to sound like it’s a downer, but I give it up every night.”
