Alice In Chains legend Jerry Cantrell is joining forces with Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo for a new song!
Last week, the Alice in Chains guitarist teased the upcoming release of a new single called “Vilified”, which will be out this Thursday, July 25. Now, in an Instagram post on Sunday, Cantrell revealed we can expect not just a new single, but a full album featuring some special collaborations.
One of the musicians he revealed to be on the new, yet to be officially announced, album is Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo who worked with Cantrell on “Vilified”.
“Here’s a couple of shots from the studio with my brothers Robert Trujillo and [drummer] Gil Sharone who cut the first single Vilified with me,” Cantrell wrote in the post which contained a photo of him and Trujillo in the studio.
This is not the first time Cantrell and Trujillo have worked together. In 2002, Trujillo played on Cantrell’s second solo album “Degradation Trip” – an album which was dedicated to Alice in Chains lead singer Layne Staley, who died just two months before the record’s release.
Though no details have yet been released about Cantrell’s new album, it is almost certain Trujillo is just one of many special guests we can expect to be featured on the album. In 2021, Cantrell put out his first solo music in 19 years with his album “Brighten” that contained guest performances by Duff McKagen of Guns N’ Roses, Paul McCartney’s drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., and others. “Brighten” included eight original tracks and an Elton John approved cover of his classic song “Goodbye.”
