Axl Rose and the Psychic on Tour
Faith No More keyboardist Roddy Bottum shared a strange behind-the-scenes story about Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose during an interview on Birthday Cake For Breakfast. Bottum said Rose once traveled with a psychic who had real influence over whether shows happened or not.
Bottum explained that the psychic would walk onto the stage before concerts and inspect the space. He described her appearance and behavior, saying, “She’d go on stage, and she looked like a soothsayer sort of woman… with a turban… in my memory, she’s this woman.” He added that she would walk around the stage, sensing the energy before the show.
Shows Canceled Over “Bad Energy”
According to Bottum, if the psychic felt the energy was wrong, the show was called off. “She had a bad feeling about the juju of that particular stage… and says, ‘No, this is not a good place for a show tonight. You need to cancel,’” he recalled.
The result was often thousands of disappointed fans. “They would cancel the show… that many people already in line, with tickets, ready for the show—and nope, canceled,” Bottum said.
A Pattern of Chaos
These stories became common during the chaotic 1992 Guns N’ Roses and Metallica tour. Rumors even claimed Rose avoided cities starting with certain letters. Years later, similar last-minute cancellations continued, including a famous 2002 no-show in Philadelphia that later led to an apology from Rose.
