Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses joined Billy Joel to cover AC/DC!

Bet that’s a sentence you never thought you’d read, but it’s exactly what happened last night. During the last show of his decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden, while also celebrating his historic record-setting 150th concert at the venue, Joel invited Rose on stage to perform two songs back-to-back.

Midway through his set, Rose and Joel covered Paul McCartney and Wings’ classic “Live and Let Die” and AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell”, with Joel stepping away from the piano and instead donning a guitar for the latter of the two songs.

While a cover of AC/DC may not seem like something in Joel’s wheelhouse, it was rather appropriate as Rose filled in for AC/DC singer Brian Johnson during their 2016 tour and Joel and Rose previously covered the song together during Joel’s 2017 Dodger Stadium show in Los Angeles.

Rose also came back later in the set to help Joel wrap up the evening, duetting with Joel on his classic song “You May Be Right” for the big finale.

Master of Justice posted on Reddit, “I saw him a while back (2016, ai believe) qt Dodger Stadium in LA. I won’t lie, I was a teen obsessed with heavy metal (and GnR), and was dragged there by my parents, so I was less-than-thrilled to be there. That said, I definitely left the show a fan! Anyways, he brought out P!nk for a song or two, and Axl as well, for the same songs you mentioned. I think he came back on at the end for Piano Man, but I might not be remembering correctly. It was a pleasant surprise for sure, it definitely broke cheered me up and got me excited for the rest of the show.

Hope you had a fun time!”
