Linkin Park recently announced their reunion with Armstrong as a new singer, but this has caused controversy due to her past connection with actor Danny Masterson from That ’70s Show. Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison in 2023 for assaulting women charges from incidents that happened between 2001 and 2003. In 2020, Armstrong attended one of Masterson’s court hearings, showing her support at the time.
Cedric Bixler-Zavala, from The Mars Volta, who has spoken against Scientology, criticized Armstrong and the band. Bixler-Zavala’s wife, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, was one of the women who accused Masterson of rape. Armstrong later said she regretted supporting Masterson but didn’t address her connection to Scientology, which some, including Bixler-Zavala, believe helped cover up Masterson’s actions.
Jaime Bennington then took to his Instagram stories and stated that he will be attending a 9/11 show with tickets a supporter bought for him. He said he’s asked Linkin Park, the band’s management, and their social media accounts to recognize him, but hasn’t heard back.
He asked fans not to bother him or his partner at the show, as they are going for closure and respect. He also mentioned that he’s asked the band and their team to address some aggressive fans who call themselves “soldiers.” Even though he let them know he plans to attend the concert and requested a response if they don’t want him there, he’s been ignored. He made it clear that he’s attending peacefully, hoping for closure, but feels like his requests are being ignored.
I will be attending the 9/11 show. For now with tickets bought by a supporter.
Still waiting on @linkinpark and MGMT to acknowledge me.
While attending the show please do not harass me or my partner.
Respectfully, we are attending for closure. For acknowledgment.
I’m grieving.I have asked @linkinpark band members,
affiliated SM accounts, and BAND MGMT to step in and correct the behavior of their more aggressive (radicalized) fans. Some of which call themselves soldiers.
2). I have alerted the band and mgmt that I intend to attend the concert. And asked to receive a formal acknowledgement if they don’t want me at the show.
3). I have claimed that I am attending the concert for closure, as
well as to observe. I come in peace.
I have been ignored.
