In a new Instagram Q&A, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan was asked why he has never recorded with Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, outside of “Eye” for the Lost Highway soundtrack. Corgan told the fan that Reznor did not contribute to the track. Below are highlights from recent Billy Corgan Instagram Q&A’s.

How come you never wrote, performed or worked with Trent Reznor? (other than eye)

“Tr had nothing to do with our track. I think he supervised the soundtrack. But that’s a common misconception and not his fault.”

Why weren’t there any singles for Oceania? Superb album! One of my faves!

“My focus was to make a great album and not focus on sales/whether people would like it/hate it.”

Fools mistake your Stardust-esque characters (Glass, Zero) for egonamia, thoughts?

“That’s the point.”

Was Mark McGrath your first choice for interlude videos?

“He was my only choice. I wrote the part for him.”

Is it impossible for new bands to make a living playing music?

“Pretty much. Which is awful, and unfair. But the economics are not good for anyone involved.”

Plan on doing any interviews in this half of the tour?

“We pretty much turn everything down now. Which is a shame. We have a lot to share and say.”
