The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and Bill Maher recently discussed pop icon Taylor Swift as an example of someone in the zeitgeist.
Billy Corgan opens up on Taylor Swift
Speaking on the Club Random podcast, Billy Corgan shared his thoughts on Taylor Swift. They admired her professionalism, class, responsibility, intelligence, humor, and especially her brilliance as a businessperson.
While Maher admitted not connecting with her music personally, both agree she’s very talented as a musician. They highlighted her unprecedented success, noting her stadium tour could have sold out the equivalent of 900 stadiums, emphasizing that even if you don’t enjoy her art, her achievements demand respect.
Corgan said, “I always find people that are in the zeitgeist fascinating.”
When asked by Maher, if it’s Taylor Swift, Corgan said, “It doesn’t matter. Sure. Zeitgeist. I have my opinions on that whole thing at this point, and I probably should keep to myself so I don’t get attacked by the Swifties.
Corgan said, “She’s very talented. As a business person, she’s brilliant. She’s it’s a total coup what she’s she’s built. So you can’t you can only marvel it. In fact, quick statistic that I heard behind the scenes. The demand for her concert tour, the stadium tour was 900 stadiums. They could have sold 900 stadiums full of tickets. Now that is an accomplishment.”
