90’s alternative rock survivors Tool and The Smashing Pumpkins are set to play festivals in Europe in summer 2019, with Tool getting top billing. Billy Corgan, who has been opinionated in the past about festival lineups and billing, seems very pleased to be playing with Tool according to a new Instagram story Q&A.

A fan asked, “Are you excited for playing with Tool and Dream Theater in Florence next year? Gonna be epic.”

Corgan responded, “I’ve always been a fan of Tool so it will be great to share the stage with them and of course DT is a great band, too.”

Tool and The Smashing Pumpkins are playing day 1 of the Firenze Rocks festival, with Tool getting top billing, while Ed Sheeran is headlining day 2, and The Cure are headlining day 4. You can buy tickets for day 1 on the Firenze Rocks website for € 63.25, € 74.75, and € 323.25.

Tool, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, and Slipknot will play at Rock am Ring on June 7-9, 2019 in Nuremberg, and at Rock im Park on June 7-9, 2019 in in Nurnberg. Tool, The Smashing Pumpkins, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, and Slipknot will also play at the Download Festival on June 14-16, 2019 at Donnington Park in London.

Billy Corgan and Maynard James Keenan are two of a tragically dwindling group of living 90’s alternative rock singers.
