Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker was a guest on a recent edition of Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. During the interview, Rogan and Barker discuss the “wizardry” of Tool frontman Maynard James Kennan. Alternative Nation transcribed the comments.

Rogan: Have you ever had pasta in Europe?

Barker: Yeah.

Rogan: It’s very different.

Barker: Oh yeah, there is so much shit in ours.

Rogan: Well Maynard, Maynard James Kennan from Tool explained it to me. He runs an Osteria in Arizona.

Barker: I didn’t know that.

Rogan: This guy is a fucking wizard, man. He has his own winery, he runs an Osteria. Kennan said that, and we looked it up after he told me this. In the early turn of the century when they were growing wheat, they experimented and changed the wheat to make it more dense so you would get more yield out of an acre. So, by doing that they changed how your body processes it and there are more complex glutens in a stalk of wheat. Like, in old timey wheat, the type you get in Italy, France or something like that, it’s a different wheat. It’s a much more scrawny looking plant. So, if they had an acre of that they wouldn’t nearly have as much wheat. So in America we say “Bigger is Better” and we made it bigger, better, thicker and your body has a much harder time processing it. That’s why people have get so much inflammation, leaky gut and all these different aliments that people get from bread and pasta in this country. It’s because of this much more complex wheat.

In related news, Tool frontman Maynard James Kennan wasn’t shy in letting fans know his intentions in regards to an upcoming Tool album. Recently, the Tool frontman sent out the following to his legions of followers.
