Blink-182’s classic lineup of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker reunited last year and they released One More Time. They recently dropped One More Time… Part 2, a deluxe edition with eight new tracks. It has now led to fans speculating whether a Part 3 could be on the horizon. Producer Aaron Rubin recently made some comments which have got the fans anticipating a Part 3 of the album, finishing up the trilogy
Blink-182 to drop Part 3 with leftover tracks?
Rubin has revealed that several songs were hard to finish off and didn’t make it onto either the original One More Time… or the deluxe edition. This revelation has fueled excitement that these unfinished tracks could eventually lead to third installment of the album, completing what some are calling a potential trilogy.
Given the band’s history of releasing deluxe editions and adding new content, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to imagine another collection of songs coming out in the future.
Chart-Topping Success of Part 2
The success of One More Time… Part 2 has proven that Blink-182’s fanbase is as eager as ever for new music. The album was preceded by a double single, “All In My Head” and “No Fun,” both of which have been quick smashes. Both tracks debuted in the top 10 of the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, with “No Fun” opening at No. 9 and “All In My Head” following closely at No. 10.
Blink-182 now boasts 15 top 10 hits on the Alternative Digital Song Sales list, proving that their music continues to dominate well after their initial burst of popularity in the 90s and early 2000s.
Why Part 3 Could Happen
Given the band’s current momentum, it wouldn’t be surprising if Blink-182 capitalized on the success of One More Time… Part 2 by releasing a Part 3. Not only do they have leftover tracks, but the fans’ thirst for new music seems unquenchable. In the past, the band has shown a willingness to release deluxe editions and extra content, so there’s a real possibility that they’ll continue this trend.
If a Part 3 does materialize, it would likely include some of the tracks Rubin mentioned. The idea of a trilogy is intriguing, as it would allow Blink-182 to explore even more creative ideas and perhaps experiment with different sounds or collaborations.
For now, Blink-182’s latest release has cemented their status as one of the most influential alternative rock bands of their time. One More Time… Part 2 is still fresh in fans’ minds and Rubin’s comments are hinting at more to come.
