AC/DC Italia have reported that they have communicated with Brian Johnson about his hearing issues. Johnson left AC/DC on Saturday and was replaced by Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose.

Johnson told AC/DC Italia in an e-mail how doctors are still treating his ears with direct injections into his ear drum, and how the treatment is not enjoyable for him. Johnson hopes that he can recover his hearing. The left ear is in really bad shape, and it is impossible for Brian to hear even the tone of the guitars. For this reason, he says, he does not want to embarrass the band or the fans. Even the right ear has worsened significantly and is struggling to improve. He concludes that the affection shown to him has helped him a lot in these dark days.

AC/DC Italia has also chosen to stop posting due to Johnson’s exit from the band. The iconic singer fronted AC/DC for 36 years.

AC/DC officially announced that Axl Rose was joining their band to complete their 2016 tour on Saturday.

“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years,” the group said in a statement. “We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing. We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”

Alternative Nation first broke the news that Rose would likely be joining AC/DC on March 21st based on a rumor from GNRTruth’s MSL.
