Garth Brooks to Perform at KISS Tribute for Kennedy Center Honors
Rock N Roll Experience shared an update on Facebook, revealing that Garth Brooks will be performing during the KISS tribute at this weekend’s Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. The information comes from Eddie Trunk, who reportedly commented on their post and also talked about it on his radio show.
“Garth Brooks is doing the actual event from what I heard. I believe Nuno is doing something else at it but will be included with KISS,” said Eddie Trunk. Carrot Top is also rumored to speak.
Trunk also hinted that Carrot Top or Criss Angel might be involved in the ceremony as speakers, though that has not been officially confirmed.
KISS Legacy Continues Through Their Sons
Meanwhile, a new band called Stanley Simmons, made up of the sons of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, just released their debut single titled “Body Down.”
The duo, Nick Simmons (Gene’s son) and Evan Stanley (Paul’s son), officially launched the project on December 5. Their music, however, takes a very different path from their fathers’ glam rock roots. Their new track is described as acoustic-led and psychedelic-tinged, with strong influences from Americana and folk.
“We grew up loving a lot of roots stuff, Americana, folk, so you hear a lot of that in there. It really has nothing to do with what our dads do,” Evan said on KTLA 5.
“It’s surreal in a lot of ways ’cause it’s one of the first songs we wrote together,” he added.
Nick also shared that Gene Simmons had a hilarious but supportive reaction to the new music:
“My father is the master of the backhanded compliment. He was like, ‘This is much better than the last thing you showed me.’”
No Tour Dates Yet for Stanley Simmons
So far, Stanley Simmons has no live shows or tour dates scheduled, but their release is already gaining attention thanks to their musical pedigree and fresh sound.
