Chester Bennington had joined Stone Temple Pilots in 2013, stepping into the shoes of the legendary Scott Weiland. In 2013, during an interview with Artisan News, Chester said that he was in a tough spot fronting the band. He also talked about the pressure and said that he understood some fans would not accept him as Scott’s replacement. He further discussed moving forward for a new chapter with the band.

In 2015, Chester had revealed in an interview that there were talks of changing Stone Temple Pilots name after he joined the band. But he wasn’t in favor of the idea, as he believed that the band built a legacy, and didn’t want the members to give that up.
Fast forward to today, Linkin Park found itself in a similar situation with Emily Armstrong stepping into a co-vocalist role, replacing their iconic frontman, late Chester Bennington.
Linkin Park recently returned from hiatus and have reunited for the first time since the Chester’s tragic passing and Emily Armstrong was introduced as their new vocalist replacing him. Similar to Chester, Emily has also faced the pressure of filling in the big shoes. While she has been praised by for what she brings to the table, some have also criticized the band’s decision to recruit her.
However, given Chester’s words about joining Stone Temple Pilots, it’s easy to imagine that he would wholeheartedly support Emily’s role in Linkin Park.
