Linkin Park’s comeback announcement last year also came with the news that guitarist Brad Delson – while still remaining a member of the band – would be stepping away from touring. Recently, Jaime Bennington (son of the late Chester Bennington) shared a post made by an Instagram account called “Supporter of Jaime Bennington” that included a statement Linkin Park’s co-lead singer Mike Shinoda made in regards to Delson’s decision to not tour.
“Touring got to be less and less of a good fit for Brad as he got older,” Shinoda wrote on Discord. “For one thing, he doesn’t like noisy places! That alone could be a deal breaker. But there’s so much diversity in the way people’s brains and their personalities are made.”
“We were happy to figure out a great way for him to be involved in ways that are a great fit for him and us. Think about introverts and extroverts. A crowd makes one person energized and makes another person exhausted. Yeah, Brad made a rare ‘Brad post’ about it! We love that guy, and want him to participate in the band in whatever ways are the best fit for him,” he added.
Jaime then revealed that the account “Supporter of Jaime Bennington” was receiving threats for sharing Shinoda’s words about Delson.
“Delete this f*cking account before it’s too late. Sh*t post. You don’t know anything. Literally anything. You have two days,” the threats read.
“Supporter of Jaime Bennington” replied to the threats, writing: “Before it’s too late?? Are you threatening me??”
To which the threatening account wrote: “What do you think? Delete this account right now. I know people. Today it’s your last day, your last chance to delete this f*cking account.”
Jaime then addressed these comments in a follow-up post on his Instagram story, saying:
“People don’t just threaten me. They threaten people who might align with me as well. And it’s been that way from the very beginning. This behavior is unacceptable. Keep your eyes out for accounts like the one threatening this user. Report them if they interact with you in this way. Thank you for being brave enough to share this interaction!”
