Chino Moreno is reportedly finishing up a new Deftones album.

Recently, Moreno revealed in an interview with radio station KROQ that he and his band have nearly wrapped up work on a new record and that it’s now just up to him to lay down the vocal tracks:

“Basically, where we’re sitting right now is we have a whole record recorded all musically. And it’s pretty much my job right now to finish up the vocals. And I have, obviously, this show again next week, and then straight after that, I go back home to Oregon and I go in the studio. So as long as that takes… I hate to put a definite kind of timeframe, ’cause we’re not really in a rush. We want it to be great. I think that’s most important. But it is coming, and, yeah, it’s really good. We’re really excited with what we’ve been working on. And everybody’s jazzed.”

New Deftones album will get finished

Well, it seems like Moreno has finally got the ball rolling on finishing up his part on the album, with a recent photo of him working with producer Nick Raskulincz being posted to Instagram by Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group CEO David “Beno” Benveniste.

“Incredible trip up to Portland to see my dudes!” Beno wrote in the photo’s caption. “Chino Moreno and Nick Raskulincz. Some magic going on in the studio. Capturing the beauty, power, essence and energy – somewhere between space and time, presence and perspective. You don’t even know… #deftones FUTURE HEAVY”
