Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass was recently dropped by his talent agent, Michael Greene of Greene Talent. This comes after his controversial joke about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“We have parted ways after what happened in Sydney,” Greene said in an email. “Thank you.”
The decision was reached after Gass’ longtime friend and Tenacious D bandmate, Jack Black, announced that the band would cancel all of its remaining tour dates and pause future creative plans.
Kyle Gass of Tenacious D has also apologized after facing major flak for his comments regarding the assassination attempt of Donald Trump.
The gunman who tried to assassinate Trump was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. It was reported that he had crawled onto the roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away from the stage at the Butler Farm Show grounds.
However, he was shot and killed by Secret Service snipers. On Monday, Trump made his first public appearance since the attempt at the GOP convention in Milwaukee, where his right ear was seen wrapped in a bandage. He was joined by his official running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio).
At the rock band’s concert in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday, Jack Black brought a birthday cake out for Gass, and told him to “make a wish” — to which Gass replied: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”
His remark was made the day after Trump was shot at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania and it garnered widespread backlash on social media. Gass released a statement on Tuesday and apologized for his controversial remark.
“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake,” the Grammy Award winner wrote on Instagram.
“I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone,” Gass continued.
“What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”
Black went on to release a statement and he revealed Tenacious D is postponing the rest of their “Spicy Meatball Tour” and “all future creative plans.”
Tenacious D had several more shows lined-up throughout Australia and New Zealand this month. They had also just announced a five-show run ahead of the 2024 election in partnership with Rock the Vote.
