Soundgarden photographer Paul Lorkowski shared a touching story about Chris Cornell buying his daughter a vintage Soundgarden shirt just 10 days before his death. Cornell had two daughters, Lily and Toni.

Lorkowski wrote on Instagram, “7 May 2017, Memphis, TN! Chris and I did a little t-shirt shopping pre-show and he found and bought a new ‘vintage’ @soundgarden shirt for his daughter! #loudlove #soundgarden #chriscornell #bealestreet.”

He wrote last year after Cornell’s death, “Thank you all for reaching out, I appreciate all of you. This has been an unimaginable time. I was blessed to spend the last eight years with Chris and still can’t wrap my brain around how we got here. I lost a friend/brother last week that just happened to be the greatest singer of all time. There will never be another like him. Gonna leave this here, one of my favorite songs of all time. #chriscornell #soundgarden #kinganimal #beyondthewheel #templeofthedog @chriscornellofficial @soundgarden @templeofthedog.”

Lorkowski joined Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Vicky Cornell at the Human Rights Watch dinner where Chris Cornell posthumously received The Promise Award last fall.

Cornell died on May 18, 2018 in Detroit following a Soundgarden show at the Fox Theatre.
