Nancy Wilson in a Instagram post dropped a never-before-seen video clip of the late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell covering the Rolling Stones in 1991 to celebrate what would have been his 60th birthday.

Wilson posted a VHS-quality video which depicted Cornell performing ‘Wild Horses’ at a Seattle concert on September 22, 1991, during a show by Heart’s side project, the Lovemongers. Their version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘The Battle of Evermore’ and Cornell’s ‘Seasons’ were later on the ‘Singles’ soundtrack. Is the next Chris Cornell here in 2024?

Nancy wrote in the caption:

“Found a gem of a Lovemongers ’90s rarity when Chris Cornell joined us on stage to sing ‘Wild Horses’ in honor of Layne Staley. Happy birthday, Chris Cornell.”

Cornell’s widow, Vicky, left a comment, writing with a heart emoji:

“Amazing.”

When Ann Wilson introduced the late singer on stage, Soundgarden was about to open for Guns N’ Roses on their Use Your Illusion Tour. It was a few weeks after the Lovemongers performance that Soundgarden released their ‘Badmotorfinger’ album.

Twenty years later Cornell had reunited with the Wilson sisters on stage when he inducted Heart into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Back in 2022, Ann said the following about the induction ceremony and Cornell:

“I didn’t know that he was going to induct us. So when it came, and Chris was up there doing it, it was emotional because it was so personal and so intimate. He was such a sweet soul. He was complicated, dynamic, troubled. To see him up there glowing and giving this thing was moving to me; I remember that. I had no idea that he even cared about our band that much. We knew each other as friends, but we never talked together about Heart before, so it was a cool moment.”

Ann also previously revealed to Rolling Stone that she first met Cornell at a party she hosted in Seattle. It was a relaxed gathering where musicians and others from the music scene would hang out. Ann recalled a Halloween party where Chris dressed up as ‘Black Hole Sun’ with a humorous and elaborate costume.
