Reports recently floated that late Rob Reiner was involved in an argument with his son Nick Reiner at a party. However, a Hollywood executive snubbed it.
Claims were also made that Conan O’Brien prevented several other show attendees from calling the cops, but the source added that the party host “saw no fight.”
Nick Reiner has since been arrested in connection with his parents’ passing and could face up to life imprisonment as the authorities carry on to weigh up the possibility of the death sentence.
Argument between Rob Reiner and his son shut down
An eyewitness also shut down rumors of an argument ensuing between Rob and Nick a day before the film icon and his wife, Michelle, were found dead in their Brentwood home.
The Reiner trio was in attendance at Conan O’Brien’s party on December 13th, where multiple news outlets reported that the father and son were involved in a heated shouting match. However, a Hollywood executive has told The Wrap that such a thing did not happen.
“That’s bullsh-t,” the executive said of the reports, going further to explain that the 32-year-old seemed erratic in his conduct, but the alleged fight with his father is pure fiction.
The insider noted that “there was this kid walking around making people feel uncomfortable. Eavesdropping on conversations and that kind of thing,” but added that O’Brien “saw no fight, no argument.”
The executive further stated that they knew a number of other attendees who were present at the event, but “no one mentioned it to” them.
“I said to Conan the next day – I said, ‘What is all this stuff about a fight?’ He said, ‘I saw no fight,” the executive revealed.
The Hollywood executive’s snub comes in reply to the reports suggesting O’Brien prevented a friend from calling the cops following Rob and Nick’s alleged standoff.
As per the Daily Mail, multiple attendees claimed they witnessed father and son exchanging words at the comedian’s Christmas party, which he held in his L.A. home.
However, when a friend tried to call 911 to quell the discord, O’Brien talked them out of it, insisting he didn’t want cops in his house.
“They got in an argument, the father and son. It got so bad and loud that someone wanted to call the police to report it,” the insider claimed. “But Conan stepped in and said, ‘It’s my house, my party, I’m not calling the police.’ He talked them out of calling the police.”
Another source brought up Nick’s mental health issues and suggested that they call the cops, but O’Brien didn’t budge.
“When the sh-t was hitting the fan, somebody said we need to call the police. The conversation was about getting this kid put into a mental-health hold,” the second source told the news outlet.
“Conan O’Brien stepped in and said, ‘No, I don’t want the police at my house.’ It makes sense; who wants the cops showing up, creating a scene?” the insider added.
