Courtney Love was photographed with Jared Leto on Friday in New York. Leto has wanted to play Kurt Cobain in a biopic for years. She wrote on Instagram, “About Last Night… Thank you @gucci & @guccibeauty for a gorgeous evening.”

Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary director Brett Morgen said in a 2015 Digital Spy interview.

“Jared Leto – he did an audition for it years ago too,” said Morgan, referencing Leto’s 2011 performance video where he sings Nirvana track ‘Pennyroyal Tea’.

“I never watched his audition, he might be too old right now, but he’s a musician who I think looks kind of… I think I would buy him as Kurt.”

He added: “But I don’t think anybody should play Kurt. I don’t think there should ever be a fiction film of Kurt.

“Why? What’s the point? You have Montage of Heck. Why would you need to dramatise it?

“Who knows? I felt the same way about making a documentary about Kurt before I made the documentary! So you never f**king know!”

Morgen continued: “I was as cynical as anyone about doing a Cobain documentary. Is there anything left to say, is there anything left to show?

“Coming out the other side, I felt that question is rhetorical at this point.

“The question shouldn’t have been, ‘Was there anything left to show?’, the question should have been, ‘There’s everything to show’, because we had such a limited window into Kurt from the age of 23 years.

Courtney Love told Fashion in 2013, “I still get hit on by guys because they want to be cast in that Kurt Cobain biopic that’s been in production for years.” Yes, you have to take everything Love says with about a cup of salt, but it’s not hard to believe that some actors might try to take advantage of Love’s casting couch. Love has hinted that she is referring specifically to Jared Leto, who has Cobain’s piercing blue eyes and absolutely none of his musical talent. Love wouldn’t name names but claims her list of would-be Kurt suitors “would blow your mind.”
