Dave Grohl Calls Out Awful Foo Fighters Performance

Dave Grohl discussed screw ups at Foo Fighters shows during a recent Live Nation conversation. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.

“Over the years, so much has also changed with live music. 20 years ago we were trying so hard to sound great, and we can only sound the way we sound, it’s just the way it is. We don’t play to backing tracks, and we don’t have click tracks, and we’re always out of tune, and I scream too much, and whatever.

These days it works to our advantage, because we’ll be playing a song and fuck it up so bad that the audience is like, ‘Oh my god, I just saw a band make a mistake, cool!’ It makes things a lot easier. There is a love of playing live music.

I get asked all the time about rock and roll being dead: ‘Don’t you think rock and roll is dead?’ Of course no, I don’t, when you look at the connection we have with our audience.”

He also praised Billie Eilish, who he has praised multiple times in the press. Grohl and his daughter even attended Eilish’s live Ellen interview earlier this week, and they were shown on camera, and Grohl was mentioned by Eilish.
