Everyone loves Dave Grohl because he’s a really fan friendly person in real life. He’s easily approachable, and that’s why it comes as no surprise he ended up making the day of a Mexican fan recently.

Fan Shares Emotional Encounter

A Reddit user revealed that they met Dave Grohl last night in Mexico City, saying, “I met Dave last night in Mexico City,” along with photos of Grohl signing autographs. The fan looked shocked, happy, and in tears as Grohl wrote personalized messages on the card like “Happy Birthday Lianne” and “Hi Lianne, it has been a pleasure to meet you.”

The fan added that they talked with Dave and producer Butch Vig for five minutes, calling the experience amazing and saying Grohl was extremely nice and happy to sign.

“We stood and chatted for 5 minutes with him and Butch Vig – he was so cool and very happy to sign”

Another Reddit user later noticed another autograph and asked, “Is that a Josh Homme signature too?” The fan confirmed, “Yep! He was there too.”

So it was pretty clear that the fan had the time of her life and that’s all that matters to her in the end.

Foo Fighters Debut New Song in Mexico

According to Everett Post, this meet-and-greet happened around the same time Foo Fighters performed the live debut of their new single “Asking for a Friend” during their show in Monterrey, Mexico.

Grohl told the crowd it was the first time they had ever tried the song live. The concert also featured a rare performance of “Hey, Johnny Park!” which they hadn’t played since 2021.

The studio version of “Asking for a Friend” premiered in October and is the band’s second new original song of 2025 after “Today’s Song.” Their most recent album is But Here We Are from 2023.

It’s also to be noted that Foo Fighters will perform in Mexico City on Friday. In 2026, they’ll kick off a world stadium tour, starting in Europe in June and then heading to North America in August.
