Wes Scantlin Avoids Jail After DV, Drug Arrest

Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin will not serve jail time following his recent court outcome in a case tied to alleged domestic violence and drug possession. The decision means Scantlin avoids incarceration for now, but he will still face court oversight as he works through required programs.

According to TMZ, court documents show Scantlin was placed into a one-year diversion program in lieu of jail time and must enroll in and complete a drug rehabilitation program.

The outlet reports Scantlin was arrested last year after police alleged he became physical with his girlfriend, and officers also said they found drugs on him during a search. A judge accepted a plea agreement that put him into the diversion program for the drug possession charge, while the remaining counts were dismissed.

The legal outcome follows other turbulent episodes around the singer in recent years, including the incident in which he explained what led to a SWAT standoff during a separate confrontation.

Scantlin is expected back in court on May 29 for a progress report, which will determine whether he is complying with the diversion terms and treatment requirements. The case adds another chapter to the band’s headline-making history as Puddle of Mudd continues to be associated with both rock radio staples and ongoing legal drama surrounding its longtime vocalist.
