Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl discussed the surprise release of the band’s new single “Run” in a new BBC interview, and mocked President Donald Trump’s tweeting. Alternative Nation transcribed Grohl’s comments.

“First of all, we have this little team of 4 or 5 people. It’s me, our drummer Taylor, a girl that we work with named Kristen, our manager John, JC, and we kind of huddle together. We’re like, ‘Okay, how can we mess with everybody? How can we get everybody excited about something and freak them out?’

So we come up with these little plans, like that show in Frome, when we did the show there, I don’t know if you remember but there was this whole crazy online scheme with airliners we were sending out to people, and reservations, stuff like that, that was all their idea. So when it comes to putting out a song for something we’re like, oh cool, how can we just like drop it on them? How can we get it to them, so it’s not some big official thing?

It’s fun, and it’s fun for us to come up with a scheme and kind of sit there and look at your computer and wait for it to come out and watch and see what happens. It’s like Donald Trump tweeting, it just happens, you never know. You don’t have to know how to spell.”
