Former As I Lay Dying guitarist and A Veil singer Chad Ackerman has posted the following story about Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl:

“One of my best and worst moments while working as a gate keeper for the MTV Movie Awards. Basically Dave Grohl was one of the coolest, chillest, and warmest dudes that I’ve ever met. After he insisted on hugging us, we (@noelwillcockson @caylendenuccio and I) talked to him for a while and then he invited us to drink beer with him, his wife, and the band in a van next to us.

I declined because I was a good ‘christian’ at the time and because I was working. Yes. I remember Dave’s face when I said ‘Nah, I’m good, and I’m working.’ He looked at me with a smirk and amusement and said ‘Ok, well nice hanging with you guys.’ Then I asked if we could get a picture with him, the photo you see here, and that was the end of it. I’m sorry @noelwillcockson and @caylendenuccio for ruining what could have been a better story and a better experience.

My religious belief fucked me, my relationships, and fucked up a lot of great experiences that I could have had. You live and hopefully you learn and keep learning. I pray to Dave now. Dave, if you’re out there, forgive me for my sins, and I hope to drink a beer or 3 with you one day. Amen.”
