Dave Grohl stunned Foo Fighters fans by joining Philadelphia musician Pat Finnerty’s 24-hour ‘Grohl A-Thon’ Instagram Live performance 9 hours in. Finnety is a longtime Growl fan, using a cardboard cutout of Grohl during past performances.

Grohl was featured on the stream for 20 minutes after a friend at a dinner party got him on, and he sang part of Dire Straits’ “Money On Straight.” A big goal of the performance was to get Grohl to sing the song.

Finnerty asked Grohl to end the surprise appearance, “Is it good to be Grohl?”

Grohl shot back, “Oh yeah, it’s the f**kin’ best. There was no way I was not going to call in. Just so you could take a f**king nap.”

Dave had big plans for this year, with Foo Fighters set to embark on a 25th anniversary tour, to mark 25 years since the release of the band’s seminal debut record, featuring classics like “Big Me” and “I’ll Stick Around.”

Foo Fighters also had a new album ready to go for this year, but the tour and record will have to wait until 2021 due to the worldwide pandemic. Grohl is also working on two documentary projects that have been shelved. Foo Fighters are also eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, which would be Grohl’s second induction after Nirvana in 2014.
