Recently, Sharon Osbourne revealed in an interview with Metal Hammer that she has booted a band from the lineup of “Back to the Beginning” – Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s last ever concert.
Now, rumors have emerged that Megadeth may be the artist that was kicked off of the bill.
The speculation began on Reddit after Sharon’s interview was published, with fans pointing out that the Dave Mustaine fronted band seems to be a likely candidate.
“It’s confirmed that the band that kicked off is not Iron Maiden or Tool. Anyone else think that it’s NOT Megadeth?? I mean it’s gotta be Megadeth, right?” one fan commented.
“I bet it was Megadeth. I remember seeing the poster and thinking like from the era that they’re grabbing bands from why aren’t they grabbing Megadeth?” another fan wrote.
Explaining their reasoning behind why they think it was Megadeth, a third fan added: “Well Dave Ellefson, ex-Megadeth bassist, was announced a while ago. So maybe he was added to piss off Dave Mustaine?”
Not all fans are convinced that a band was removed from the lineup, however.
“Sharon has brought this up to get everyone talking about the gig. In reality it’s probably all a cheap publicity stunt and no one was kicked off,” one person suggested.
In her interview with Metal Hammer, Sharon claims that it was a fight with the mystery band’s manager that led to them being disinvited from the event.
“I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath,” Sharon said. “And it was probably the worst way I’ve felt in years. And I don’t care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn’t know me. And he’s now going around making up b*llsh*t lies because I threw his band off the bill.”
“I don’t care what people say. Because do you know what? I don’t love them. I care about people who love me, what they say about me. You can’t care what an industry says, because you don’t love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn’t,” she added.
As of writing this, it has not been confirmed which band was dropped from the July 5th concert.
