Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro recently called out a fan wearing a Taylor Swift shirt to their show and said “f***ing punk rock”.
Dave Navarro takes a shot at fan
The guitarist reposted an old clip from an August 29 show played in Tampa, Florida, where Jane’s Addiction performed at the MidFlorida Credit Union Ampitheatre.
In the clip, Navarro can be seen kneeling down to peer at an gig-goer’s shirt, which quotes Swift’s 2014 hit ‘Blank Space’ on its back: “So it’s gonna be forever / Or it’s gonna go down in flames“.
Navarro then tells the Swiftie: “I apprerciate that you don’t give a fuck and wore a Taylor Swift shirt to our show”.
He doubled down on the sentiment in the caption on his Instagram: “The whole time I was thinking, “How is this guy wearing a Taylor Swift shirt to a Jane’s show?” Then, I was like, “F*** it, be who you are!
“F***ing punk rock, brother!”
A shocking altercation between Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro took place this earlier this month. The incident saw Farrell appearing to purposely tackle Navarro on stage, leading to a heated confrontation that left both the audience and band members shocked. Footage captured by fans shows that Farrell, in the middle of his meltdown, attempted to use his microphone as a weapon against his bandmates.
The tension between Farrell and Navarro escalated after Farrell got in Navarro’s face and began hurling insults at him. A confused Navarro could be seen asking what was going on, but before anyone could intervene, Farrell lunged at him. The situation escalated as Farrell started throwing punches, though it’s unclear if any landed on Navarro.
Perry Farrell has also apologized to Dave Navarro after their battle onstage. Farrell told his Jane’s Addiction bandmates he is sorry in a new Instagram post, writing:
“This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in unexcusable behavior, and I take full responsibility for how I chose to handle the situation.”
