David Draiman Invites Jack White to Talk Iran
Disturbed frontman David Draiman has challenged Jack White to a conversation after the White Stripes singer criticised President Donald Trump’s decision to launch a military campaign against Iran. The back-and-forth played out on social media after Trump released a video statement announcing what the report describes as “Operation Epic Fury,” prompting White to accuse the president of hypocrisy while presenting himself as a peace-minded leader.
Tone Deaf reported that Draiman argued the campaign to “#FreeIran” should not be opposed and said “the Iranian people deserve their freedom,” while also extending an “open invitation” to speak with White “not debate” either privately or publicly.
White’s post mocked Trump’s war announcement and suggested the burdens of conflict would fall on “other people’s children,” while he also took sarcastic aim at what he called a “Board of Peace” and the idea of Trump receiving a Nobel Peace Prize. Draiman responded by attempting to separate broader political disagreements from the specific issue of Iran, adding that he considers White “an absolutely brilliant artist” while still disagreeing with his criticism.
Draiman’s history of high-profile political clashes has surfaced repeatedly in recent years, including when he attacked Tom Morello as “shameful” during another public dispute.
The exchange drew mixed reactions in the comments, with some users arguing the military action was not about liberation and others focusing on constitutional concerns. Neither artist has publicly indicated whether they will take up the proposed conversation.
