On November 2nd, Deftones drove into a setlist of big hits and deep cuts for the headlining set of their fifth annual Dia de los Deftones. It has come to light that the performance was abruptly stopped when some fans were getting chased by security and running into the fence. It was very confusing as some fans revealed that they saw stretchers going back and forth and police.
Deftones perform rarities during Dia de los Deftones
As in previous years, the festival took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California, and the Deftones curated the lineup. This year, the lineup included IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate, HEALTH, Duster, GEL, and more for the opening sets. However, the main attraction of the event was undoubtedly the Deftones themselves, who delivered an impressive 20-song performance.
In past editions of Dia de los Deftones, the band has blended their most well-known tracks with a selection of rarities and live debuts. This time, Chino Moreno and the band took the opportunity to revive seldom-performed songs such as “Lhabia,” “Beauty School,” and “Hexagram,” all of which hadn’t been played since 2018. They also showcased their cover of Japan’s “Ghosts” in a live setting for the very first time.
Among such surprises, Deftones also delivered big-time crowd-pleasers included eternal White Pony anthem “Change (In the House of Flies),” raw and hazy Around the Fur groove “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)”, and more recent faves like Ohms’ “Genesis.”

As previously reported, Deftones have also booked a hefty North American tour for 2025 that will see the alt-metal giants hitting arenas alongside the Mars Volta and Fleshwater.
