Eddie Vedder parties with Chicago Cubs

Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder celebrated with his beloved Chicago Cubs after their Wild Card Series MLB playoff victory over the San Diego Padres at Wrigley Field. Vedder sprayed champagne with the Cubs, and manager Craig Counsell even said, “Like Eddie Vedder says, we’re still alive baby!”

Vedder is with the Cubs every step of the way for their 2025 playoff run.

Josh Frydman tweeted, “After singing the 7th inning stretch for a second straight day, Eddie Vedder came up to the top of the Cubs press box to watch Rick Fuhs manually operate the scoreboard. Fuhs has been a Cubs employee since the 70s and is in his 38th year operating the board. ”

Eddie Vedder headlined Ohana Festival

Vedder just headlined his own Ohana Festival last weekend. After admitting to the audience that he was “f*ckin’ hungover” from staying up until 3 a.m. with Glen Hansard the night before, Eddie Vedder went on to introduce Alain Johannes’ set at the Ohana Festival on Saturday (Sept. 27th).

“I wasn’t gonna miss this. I’ve been looking forward to this for years,” Vedder started. “The gentleman I’m gonna introduce you to– I met him 35, almost 36, years ago on a camping trip when I was just a midnight shift security guard down in San Diego. We went on a 10 day hike through Yosemite. It was me, Flea, Jack Irons, my friend here.

“It was a very formative time. It was on the way home from that trip that Jack Irons played me an instrumental that two guys named Stone [Gossard] and Jeff [Ament] had made in Seattle and it needed some vocals on it. That was a very memorable trip. It changed my life forever.

“What I wanna say about this gentleman, he had already made records at that time. Him and Jack and Flea– There was a band called What Is This?, produced by Todd Rundgren. Then he was in a three piece with Jack Irons called Eleven. He’s played with John Paul Jones, Queens of the Stone Age… Most of my favorite musicians, he is their favorite musician. It’s such an honor to bring to the stage and start off the day, make him feel welcome, give him a big wave, Mr. Alain Johannes.”
