A fan named SuzieMay reported on Pearl Jam’s forums a couple of weeks ago that after Eddie Vedder’s stellar set at the Concert Across America to End Gun Violence Show, many of the shows performers came out for an encore performance of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Who’ll Stop The Rain.” Vedder did not come out reportedly due to dealing with a back injury.

“No details. They were about to do the finale and PJ fans wouldn’t stop yelling Ed’s name, so Jackson said Ed was supposed to join on the finale, but he has left. And then he said ‘you wouldn’t know it but he is dealing with a back injury’ or something to that effect. Ed looked fine to me all weekend (he was still doing his signature jump at the end of songs) so hopefully nothing serious.”

Vedder suffered a back injury in 2012 which led to postponed tour dates, which Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis officially announced at the time:

“After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled. There was hope up until the last minute that the treatments would be successful. Sincerest apologies go out to those who have made plans and bought tickets. Eddie is frustrated beyond measure, but remains positive that come this summer all will be back in good form.”

Since then, Vedder has been fine and done several tours over the last 4 years.
