Linkin Park singer Emily Armstrong cried during a performance of “Waiting For The End” in London.
During an interview with The Bailey Show, Jacoby Shaddix opened up on Linkin Park’s return with a new female singer, former Dead Sara singer Emily Armstrong.
Jacoby Shaddix shares his thoughts
“It’s trippy ’cause one of our producers, Colin Brittain, who I’ve been working with now for probably the last six [to] eight years, he’s playing drums [now] in Linkin Park,” the singer said. “He’s tripping. He’s just, like, ‘Dude, I got an opportunity that I can’t pass up.’”
He shared his response, “I’m, like, ‘Yeah, go do that, dude. People wanna hear this [music].’ And so it’s awesome that their music can be celebrated. I know people are very polarized about this, but I look at it like when Stone Temple Pilots lost [singer] Scott Weiland.”
“Who stepped in? [Linkin Park’s late singer] Chester [Bennington]. Chester stepped in to carry that flag for rock and roll,” Shaddix added. “So it makes sense why somebody would step in in his place and in his absence to carry that flag and to bring that message to the people, because it’s a hopeful message.”
Linkin Park recently made their comeback from hiatus following the tragic loss of their iconic frontman, Chester Bennington, in 2017. They have also unveiled a new single titled “The Emptiness Machine” from their upcoming album From Zero and this marks the band’s first release of new music in several years.
The band performed in a live stream event. However, fans quickly noticed the absence of two core members, guitarist Brad Delson and drummer Rob Bourdon during the performance.Emily Armstrong was also introduced as the new vocalist replacing Chester Bennington. Guitarist Alex Feder stepped in to fill Brad Delson’s role on stage.
However, the addition of Emily Armstrong to the band garnered mixed reactions from the fans and Mike Shinoda has also addressed the same. Meanwhile, she has received support from Chester’s widow, Talinda Bennington. She seemingly approved of the band’s choice to replace Chester. But, Chester’s son, Jamie Bennington launched a scathing attack.
