This past March, Mastodon announced the exit of guitarist and founding member Brent Hinds from the band. “After 25 monumental years together, Mastodon and Brent Hinds have mutually decided to part ways,” they wrote in a statement. “We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors.”

Now, Hinds is blasting his former bandmates.

On Wednesday (June 25th), Mastodon took to Instagram to celebrate the 11th anniversary of their 2014 album “One More ‘Round The Sun,” simply sharing a photo of the album cover.

While fans celebrated the milestone, they also mentioned how much they miss Hinds’ presence in the band. “‘Halloween’ is definitely my #1 track on this record. Definitely gonna miss B. Hinds though,” one fan wrote, while another added: “The band will never be the same.”

Shortly after, Hinds himself replied to the post, commenting: “I want [sic] miss being in a shit band with horrible humans.”

After news of Hinds’ remarks went viral, Mastodon fans noticed that his comment and other comments about him seem to have mysteriously disappeared from the band’s post.

“Are they now just deleting comments regarding Brent Hinds?” one fan said, while another noted the specific comment about Mastodon being “horrible humans” appears to be missing: “Where’s Brent’s comment all over the news?”

Other fans, however, not only celebrated Hinds’ departure from the band, but praised Mastodon for allegedly deleting his comment.

“Yes, and they should be [deleting his comments],” one user wrote. “He’s trying to tarnish their legacy by making us hate him, and thus making it harder for us to want to listen to cuz of his petty bs.”
