Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante was recently featured in Linda Ramone’s Instagram story video. To the delight of many fans, in the short clip Frusciante is seen playing synth. This is the first video in a long time to surface of Frusciante playing music.

Frusciante’s former guitar tech has discussed a variety of topics in recent Dave Mails on JFEffects.

Everyone knows that John Frusciante is a spiritual person, and it is something that we can notice reflected in his music. But how was his relationship with you and the people surrounding him? Was it something that transparency or he preferred to keep spirituality to himself?

Dave Lee: “He’s a very spiritual person.” This is evident in his day-to-day routine, but even if he does not go around talking about it, he’s not afraid to talk about it, either. He does not try to hide anything. ”

Was there a reason John Frusciante used only Levy’s belts ? If so, what is the reason for this preference?

Dave Lee: “Yes, there was a reason.” The shiny nylon of those straps made it more comfortable on his shoulder, he moves a lot when he touches, and the shiny nylon does not get stuck on his shirts. Great quality.”

What equipments did John Frusciante have in his rack during the Stadium Arcadium tour?

Dave Lee: “The only thing I remember him having in a rack was his wireless equipment.”
