Mick Fleetwood recently shared that he hopes Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham can put their problems behind them and make peace. He looked back on their long and successful career together and wished they could get along again.
“I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both,” he said. “But we’ve had such an incredible career.”
Nicks has said that Fleetwood Mac could not continue without Christine McVie, and Fleetwood agrees. He felt that McVie’s passing was a huge shock and changed everything for the band. While Nicks, Buckingham, and McVie were all able to perform on their own, Fleetwood admitted that being alone in music can be difficult and lonely.
“With losing Chris, it was beyond not expected. So that was a different version of it. And for me, just Stevie or Lindsay or had it being Chris, they could really function on their own. It’s tough doing that, and you’re banging a drum on your own.”
In July 2024, Fleetwood talked about wanting Nicks and Buckingham to fix their relationship. He said there is still a big emotional gap between them, and both have been clear about their feelings. However, he still hopes they can find peace, even if it doesn’t mean performing together again.
Buckingham was removed from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 and later said that Nicks was the reason, claiming she made the band choose between them. Nicks responded by saying she left the band because the situation was unhealthy and bad for her well-being.
