Foo Fighters drummer reunites with ex-NIN bandmate

Foo Fighters drummer Ilan Rubin recently took to social media and posted some pictures with Nine Inch Nails’ Alessandro Cortini. It suggests there’s no bad blood between them, after rumors that Trent Reznor was upset by Rubin quitting.

Nine Inch Nails fans have long speculated about the circumstances surrounding Ilan Rubin’s departure from the band earlier this year, when he departed mid-tour after accepting the Foo Fighters drummer role. At the time, Josh Freese stepped in to finish the tour, earning praise from both fans and critics for stabilizing the lineup.

For some, the timing sparked rumors of behind-the-scenes tension, with speculation that Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters may have unintentionally created problems by recruiting Rubin away from Trent Reznor’s camp.

Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails crossover?

Given Reznor’s reputation for being friendly with his current and former collaborators, many fans see this reunion as a positive sign that past speculation may have been overblown. It has created excitement around the band’s upcoming Los Angeles shows, with some wondering whether Rubin could make a surprise appearance — or if the Foo Fighters themselves might join in for a special crossover moment.

Ilan Rubin also took to his Instagram account and posted some pictures as he shared the stage with Foo Fighters. He wrote:

“Last night with @foofighters could not have been a better time. After keeping my head down for a couple wild months and throwing myself into the material, that first show was such an incredible release of energy. I’ve been taken aback by all the positivity and support, and I just wanted to say thanks! Excited for all the volume and sweat that lies ahead.”
