Foo Fighters Recall ‘Worst Hours Of My Life’ When Taylor Hawkins Was Found Dead In Colombia

Foo Fighters members have opened up about the chaotic and heartbreaking moments leading up to the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in Colombia, describing the situation as some of the most traumatic hours of their lives.

According to a new feature in MOJO magazine, guitarist Chris Shiflett was waiting in a hotel lobby in Bogotá before a scheduled performance when panic suddenly broke out among crew members. Taylor Hawkins hadn’t shown up in the hotel lobby to go to the next gig.

“There followed some of the worst hours of my life,” bassist Nate Mendel said.

Hawkins had reportedly complained of chest pains prior to being found unresponsive in his hotel room. Emergency personnel were called, but the drummer was declared dead at the scene at age 50. Authorities later revealed multiple substances were found in his system, along with an enlarged heart, though no official cause of death was confirmed.

The band was set to headline a major festival that night, but the stage instead became an impromptu memorial as fans gathered in shock.
