This past May, Josh Freese announced via a statement shared to Instagram that he had been let go from Foo Fighters, saying that the band had decided “to go in a different direction with their drummer.”

Since then, Dave Grohl and co. have yet to comment on his exit or who will replace him.

Now, this past Wednesday (June 25th), Foo Fighters have shared a social media post featuring Freese for the first time since his departure from the band.

Foo Fighters’ shared a photo to their Instagram Story of the whole band, including Freese, taken backstage during their surprise 2023 appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England.

The caption simply read, “Happy Glasto Weekend!”, as the 2025 iteration of the famous music festival kicked off on Wednesday.

This comes as the band has been ramping up their social media presence in preparation for their 30th anniversary next month.

Along with this throwback to their 2023 Glastonbury performance, Foo Fighters’ have been sharing old photos, videos, interviews, and footage of live performances spanning from their debut album in 1995 to today.

This has led to speculation from fans that a massive announcement regarding a possible world tour, new album, or something else (including an announcement about who will replace Freese) could be imminent.

Josh Freese joined Foo Fighters in 2023 following the death of the band’s drummer Taylor Hawkins in March 2022. While he is no longer a member of the Foos, he remains busy, currently touring with A Perfect Circle and The Vandals.
