Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale revealed in a new Interview Magazine piece that he got high on marijuana at Woodstock 1999, which featured an infamous riot after a Limp Bizkit performance. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, Kid Rock, and Creed also performed.

“I have this thing where I don’t like to see the stage or the crowd before we play a show. So I remember walking out onto that stage for the first time and being absolutely blown away by the size of the crowd. It must have been two- or three-hundred thousand people. Just an infinite sea of humans.”

“I don’t remember where we stayed that night. It’s hard to remember where you spent the night when you smoked your body weight in weed.”

He said about the riot after the Limp Bizkit performance, “It was a real shame that a bunch of assholes in the audience had to ruin it for everyone who was just there to enjoy a rock concert.”

Woodstock will live on after its 50th anniversary festival this August in New York, with Michael Lang saying that they plan to run the festival annually in different countries, with Japan, Brazil and Spain in initial talks.

“Money wasn’t my motivator then,” Lang told Bloomberg about the past. “I was just so thrilled with what had gone down. ’Cause it was kind of like what we envisioned. Only on steroids. And acid.”

“My plan was not to start a yearly Woodstock festival. There are enough festivals.”

The price for Woodstock’s 50th anniversary in New York will reportedly be $450. The festival will feature The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Jay-Z, Robert Plant, Greta Van Fleet, and Miley Cyrus. The Black Keys dropped out due to ‘scheduling conflicts.’
