Gene Simmons recently addressed backlash from KISS fans following his comments about late guitarist Ace Frehley. He shared a new message on X (formerly Twitter).

Gene Simmons apologizes

Taking to X, Simmons wrote, “On reflection, I was wrong for using the words I used. I humbly apologize. My hand to God i didn’t intended to hurt Ace or his legacy but upon rereading my words, I see how it hurt everyone. Again, I apologize. I’ve always loved Ace. Always.”

Two days prior, Simmons had made remarks about Frehley’s lifestyle and death. He stated that the guitarist had refused advice from those who cared about him.

Simmons said in his previous interview, “Ace refused [advice] from people that cared about him — including yours truly — to try to change his lifestyle. In and out of bad decisions. Falling down the stairs — I’m not a doctor — doesn’t kill you. There may have been other issues, and it breaks my heart.”

Now, in an attempt to ease tensions, Simmons posted a brief tribute. “Ace FOREVER,” Simmons wrote in his new X post.

However, the post has not fully satisfied KISS fans. They expressed frustration over what they perceived as insufficient accountability. One fan commented directly on the post, saying, “Just apologize. Bashing a guy after he died right before such a national honor. Ace’s daughter was hurting. Low blow.”
