Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong recently took to his Instagram story section and posted the following after what happened Tuesday with the loss of his candidate in America:
“As societies grow decadent, the language grows decadent, too. Words are used to disguise, not to illuminate, action; You liberate a city by destroying it. Words are used to confuse, so that at election time, people will solemnly vote against their own interests.

Meanwhile, Green Day‘s performance of ‘American Idiot’ on a 2004 episode of …Letterman has been re-uploaded to YouTube following Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election.
Trump’s victory made him the first former President to go back to the White House in more than 130 years. He currently has 294 electoral votes, while Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has 223 (via BBC News).
He seemingly responded to this result, a live rendition of Billie Joe Armstrong and co’s political hit single ‘American Idiot’ has been reshared on the YouTube channel for the Late Show With David Letterman.
As per a description, the trio appeared as the musical guests on the US chat show in September 2004. Letterman introduced Green Day by joking: “I don’t know how our next guests slipped past Secret Service…”
‘American Idiot’ was written and released during George W. Bush’s presidency, and appears on the band’s seventh studio album of the same name.
In the comments section of the new …Letterman upload, one viewer wrote: “This is no coincidence.” Another said: “Usually these videos mark the death of someone. This one marks the death of something.”
A third person added: “Written during and to address the George W. Bush era. Even more accurate and appropriate today.” Someone else posted: “Perfect song for this day after a difficult election outcome.”
A separate comment read: “Last night proved the country is chock FULL of idiots. For the second time we become the laughing stock of the planet.”
