Billie Joe Armstrong encouraged Green Day fans to put their phones away during a recent concert. The band shared a video of this moment on their official Instagram page. At their latest stop on ‘The Saviours Tour,’ Armstrong told the crowd to enjoy the show without recording it. He said, “Let’s put the cell phones away just for a while! Let’s be here right now! I swear to God, all of your friends are gonna believe you that you were at the Green Day concert.” He added that they could use their phones later, saying, “I don’t care,” before joining the fans in singing and there’s no surprise why Mark Zuckerberg fanboyed over Green Day.

This isn’t the first time Armstrong has made this request. Earlier in the month, during a performance of ‘Longview,’ he asked fans to put their phones down after a brief break due to an unauthorized drone hovering above the stage. The band had to step off stage for a bit to handle the situation. Armstrong repeated his message, saying, “Pull ’em out later. Let’s be here right now.” The band explained on their Instagram Story that security had them leave the stage because of a potential safety issue.

Green Day is finishing up the 2024 leg of their tour, with only two more shows scheduled for September 28 and November 15. After these performances, they will start a series of 2025 shows, beginning in South Africa on January 19. Armstrong’s focus on live experiences shows how much the band wants fans to enjoy the music together in the moment. Fans can look forward to more fun performances and interactions during their upcoming shows.
