Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong discussed the U.S. Presidential election in a new interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, and Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.

“There’s only one choice for me and that’s Hillary Clinton when it comes to the Presidency. What a lot of liberals need to understand is there’s never been a candidate that has come this far that has had this much of a liberal and a progressive agenda. Just because she has just got this baggage that comes along with her, and it’s not even really baggage, compared to Donald Trump she is basically a school teacher.

Trump is evil, be brought out something in the United States that has been dormant for a long time. He has turned the Republican party into the white supremacist party, and that is what is scaring the crap out of me, because it’s polarizing. When you are a demagogue, and you play off of people’s fears, nobody looks at anything rational anymore. You make people desperate, you freak people out, and you make people so pissed off that no matter what.

It could be free college tuition, your kid can go, you got free health care, we’re going to reduce your taxes, they don’t care. It’s all about this sort of fear mongering that this guy has brought up, and he is completely clueless, he has no idea what that job is about, like nothing. It’s the President of the United States, you kind of have to know what you’re doing, and he completely doesn’t.”

He added, “Vote for love, don’t get caught up in this hate game right now.”
