A Guns N’ Roses television special titled ‘Breaking the Band’ aired on Reelz Channel on Sunday, and original guitar Tracii Guns has weighed in, saying that the claim that Izzy Stradlin started Guns N’ Roses with Axl Rose is a lie, as Tracii himself invited Izzy to join.

The Guns N’ Roses fan podcast Appetite for Distortion tweeted, “Axl and Izzy started #GunsNRoses with 3 ‘other members’?! No love for @traciiguns, Ole, or Rob 🙁 #BreakingTheBand.”

Guns responded, “Izzy didn’t start @gunsnroses that’s ridiculous. I called Izzy and asked him if he wanted in and at that point he joined.”

He later added, “Hollywood Rose disbanded. Axl joined LA Guns and Izzy Joined London. LA GUNS morphed into GnR I asked Izzy to join.”

“Izzy was my roommate that’s how I met Axl.”

“I’m not much for interviews but I dig answering questions on social media.”

Appetite for Distortion, who started the Twitter conversation, have uploaded a new episode of their show. The episode description states:

Night Ranger, Alice Cooper, Vince Neil, and Slash are just some of the artists to recruit guitarist Keri Kelli. Keri shares his path with us, including his version of what ended Slash’s Snakepit…or did it?? He also talks about his time in Adler’s Appetite, new band “A New Revenge” with Tim “Ripper” Owens and his restaurant business, “Aces & Ales.”
