Guns N’ Roses insider MSL has shared some new details on the negotiations surrounding the reunion of original Guns N’ Roses members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan on GNRTruth. MSL previously broke the news that Guns N’ Roses were in talks to perform at Coachella and that Axl Rose had met with AC/DC. MSL further discussed Izzy Stradlin’s negotiations.

“Well ‘requesting more’ might give off the impression that there was a deal and that he reneged. I don’t believe that is the case at all. They clearly just weren’t able to come to terms.”

“If somebody tried to change the deal at the last minute, it sure as shit wasn’t Izzy. thought he handled things professionally by bowing out and letting the fans know.”

MSL also reported that the reunion almost didn’t come to fruition.

“In terms of any crazy last minute demands, maybe that story will come out someday. i don’t think people realize just how close this whole ‘reunion’ thing was to completely falling apart and not happening at all.”

He mentioned that Slash’s divorce played a role in the reunion.

“The combo of Perla out of the picture, settling the fight over sync rights and DJ leaving created a perfect storm. There was really no reason not to consider Slash at that point. The position was open. Perla was gone. The hatchet had already been buried enough to agree on the DVD issue. There was nothing standing in the way anymore.

But just like Slash ‘changed his mind’ about the DVD several times trying to leverage for a better deal, the same could be said about upcoming plans. Everything came down to the wire.

We’ll see how long it lasts.”
