Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider recently opened up on the legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac on Twitter, after he was prompted by a fan.
Dee Snider talks about Fleetwood Mac
Snider had previously started a debate on art vs artist, initially as a side note about Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The singer said:
“This is an age old argument: Do we have to like the creator to like the product? Do we have to like the artist to like the art? The musician to like the song? The athlete to appreciate his or her athleticism? I say we don’t.”
Following that, user Ask Darcie replied to his post:
“I must admit, I have a harder time digging the music if the artist turns out to be a tool and dig the music even more if the artist is good people – like you!”
That prompted Snider to make a remark about Fleetwood Mac:
“I hear that. Hated Fleetwood Mac until I spent a lovely afternoon with @StevieNicks. Since then I have trouble changing the station when ‘Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow’ comes on! D’OH!”
Fleetwood Mac has been inactive since 2018/19 “An Evening with Fleetwood Mac” world tour. It saw the band going on the road for the first time in 20 years without guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. They had a turbulent split. The musician was replaced with Crowded House’s Neil Finn and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell.
And ever since, there’s been radio silence over at the Fleetwood Mac camp, leading to fans speculating on a possible hiatus, while others believed that the group was merely waiting out the pandemic hardships until the music business would start to recover.
This is an age old argument:
Do we have to like the creator to like the product?
Do we have to like the artist to like the art?
The musician to like the song?
The athlete to appreciate his or her athleticism?I say we don't. https://t.co/Z29hCpum7a
