Understanding Brain Bleeds After Ace Frehley’s Death

A brain bleed—medically referred to as an intracranial hemorrhage—occurs when a blood vessel ruptures inside the skull. According to the Mayo Clinic, this leads to blood rapidly collecting in or around the brain, which can increase pressure inside the skull and compress brain tissue. As explained by Hackensack Meridian Health, these can include severe headache, slurred speech, vomiting, weakness on one side of the body, or a sudden loss of consciousness. In severe cases, a large hemorrhage can cause rapid swelling and increased pressure, leading to brain herniation—a shift of brain structures that is often fatal, even with immediate medical care.
While Frehley’s cause of death has not been publicly confirmed despite TMZ’s report prior to his death, the widespread discussion of brain bleeds following his passing shows how dangerous the after effects of suffering a fall can be, as Frehley’s reported suffered a fall in his studio a few weeks ago.
